editor’s mother dies

ZIRO, Aug. 26: Nani Puming, mother of senior journalist and chief Editor of Arunachal Front Nani Kojin passed away at the age of 93 years today morning at 9 am at her residence at Reru village of Lower Subansiri district.

Puming, an active social worker and promoter of Nani Sala Foundation was the wife of prominent public figure, a well known priest of Ziro valley late Nani Sala. Her late husband was amongst first Zilla Parishad Members (ZPM) of erstwhile Subansiri district when Panchayati Raj was introduced in the state in the year 1967. Late Sala as a priest was even invited by the then Lt. Governor of Arunachal Pradesh KAA Raja at Itanagar to perform special puja for peace and celestial blessings and he performed puja admist huge gathering including many dignitaries at Gyakar Sinyi now known as Ganga lake.

The kind-hearted women was loved and respected in every strata of the society for her contribution towards the Apatani community.

AAPLU demands independent labour minister

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) has demanded an independent labour minister in the state.

In a memorandum submitted to the chief minister, it said, there is an urgent need of appointment of labour and employment minister with independent charge for greater interest of labourers working in both government and private establishments.

The union also demanded for enhancement of government labour wages and creation of more group C & D posts in labour department.

 

Committee seeks CM’s helping hand in Trans-Highway compensation

ITANAGAR, Aug 26:  The Bana-Pampoli Area Trans-Highway Affected Welfare Committee sought the chief minister’s helping hand on the disbursement of compensation in its area.

In its representation, the affected welfare committee claimed that disbursement of compensation within the area is yet to be completed by the district administration. The committee went on to claim, the authority kept pending compensation payment to some individuals without any valid reason. The committee added that despite repeated pleas, the authority yet to give the compensation to the community land owners. Further it demanded CM to re-measure the land and properties of the affected people in the area saying that some genuine land owners are deprived of compensation. It also requested the chief minister to direct the power electrical department to shift the electric poles from proposed High-way road.

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Gosang Football Club (GFC) thrashed Bazaar Football Club (BFC) 4-0 in a league match in the ongoing late Tagiot Apang Memorial Football Tournament played here at Jengging General Ground today.

Tanu Nangkar opened account for GFC by scoring in 11th minutes before doubling the score in 25th minutes. Lom Nangkar scored in 22nd and 40th minutes to seal 4-0 victory.

Free health camp

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The District Vector Borne Disease Control Society, Upper Subansiri district organized a series of free health camp cum awareness programme on Vector Borne diseases and LLIN distribution at Param, Paksok, Nirin, Borarupok, JNV, Meg Don, Bator, Horo, Gusar and Digbak villages from July 28 to August 10 last.

DVBDCPO Dr B Nirin with his team attended to the ailing patients. A rare case of filarial elephantiasis was reported during the free health camp.

 

BJP condemns ban on VHP yatra

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly condemned the ban imposed on Vishya Hindu Parishad (VHP)’s “Chaurasi Kosi Parikarma Yatra” by Utta Pradesh Govt. led by Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress led UPA Govt. at the Centre.

By launching crackdown on the ‘yatra’, the UP Govt and Centre has not only hurt religious sentiments of the majority community but also destroyed the country’s secular fabric, BJP said in a release.

“Secularism is the basic foundation of our country. No Govt. and party should deny the spirit of secularism and play politics of vote bank by hurting one’s religious sentiment,” the release added.

 

APMCC launches awareness prog on importance of tree

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee (APMCC) has launched an awareness campaign aimed at raising people’s awareness about the importance of trees and green vegetation at Govt. Secondary School, Jia on August 24.

To mark the day, a massive tree plantation programme was carried out in and around the school premises and both sides of the Roing-Sadiya highway. Around 300 rank and file of Mahila Congress (I) workers were present on the day.

Speaking on the occasion, APMCC Secretary Martha Apum highlighted the importance of tree for clean and green environment, reducing global warming, maintaining ecological balance etc. She also dwelt in depth about various noble schemes undertaken by the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.

The D.F.O Roing also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the needs of preserving natural vegetation for survival of human being on the earth.

Petrol depots to shut down on Aug 29

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Capital Complex Petroleum Depot Association (CCPDA) has decided to shut down all the petrol pumps on 29th of this month. This was decided in an emergency meeting held yesterday at A-Sector, Naharlagun. As per CCPDA, the members hailing from AAPSU has been found harassing petrol pumps for more fuel despite voluntary contribution made for causes and movements of state since so many years.

 “The CCPDA as a well-wisher has voluntarily contributing in every possible way. But this voluntary contribution has started to become a major concern for the CCPDA. It has been noticed that many a times some AAPSU members has been found harassing petrol pumps for more fuel. Despite repeated pleas, complaints and reminders  to them, no concrete solution regarding this concern has been acted upon so far,” stated CCPDA in a release. Association further hopes that shutting down of petrol pump on August 29th hopefully would act as a wake-up call to AAPSU so that coordination and good relation is not harmed.

 

Martyr’s family appeals govt to release pending ex-gratia payment

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The family members of martyr Lance Naik Patey Tasuk, who died in an encounter with militants in 2011, urged the Government to release the pending ex-gratia payment in recognition of his supreme sacrifice for the nation.

The family members and relatives today observed the death anniversary of Lance Naik Patey. To mark the occasion, few games and sports activities were also organized by the family members and relatives of Lt. Patey at Banderdewa.

 

APB & OCWWB awareness campaign held at Tato

ITANAGAR, Aug 25: As part of its statewide awareness campaign the official team of Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) headed by its Chairman Jalley Sonam visited Govt Middle School, Tato under Tato EAC headquarters in West Siang district on August 24 and distributed school kits to the children of registered workers in presence public, PRI leaders and teaching staff at Community Hall.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonam advised the workers to enroll and register their names to avail various benefits of the Board. Janmashtami Maha Utsav

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Like the previous year, Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated with various programmes at Radha Krishna Mandir premises, O-Point Tinali here on  August 28.

The Day-long programmes include Ganesh Puja. This will be followed by Bhajan Kirtan, announcement of Shri Krishna janmo at 24 hours. At the end of the day, prasadam will be distributed to devotees. The senior priest of the temple Atmadeo Mishra has requested all the devotees of Lord Krishna to attend the celebration with family and friends.

 

Union demands exemplary punishment to murderer

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Condemning the recent murder of a class VIII boy on August 15 at Daporijo, the Siyum Circle Students’ Union (SICSU) has called on the Upper Subansiri district administration and the state government to nab the culprit/s at the earliest.

“We urge the authority to bring justice to the late school boy by keeping the case on top priority and rectify the law and order system of the state,” the union said in a release.

It further demanded exemplary punishment to the culprit/s so that one would not dare to do such heinous act in future.

 

Tezpur-Bhalukpong APSTS bus service introduced

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services Tezpur Sub-Station has introduced daily APSTS bus services between Tezpur to Bhalukpong, stationed at Tippi from August 24.

Plan afoot  to reduce IMR

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: A brainstorming meeting to discuss on high infant mortality rate (IMR) in Arunachal Pradesh and to suggest interventions to reduce the same by gynaecologists and paediatricians from all the districts was held at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Health Services today.

Speaking in the meeting, Chief Secretary HK Paliwal urged the doctors to discharge duty with utmost sincerity and dedication as there is an old Indian adage that “doctor is the second God on this Earth.”

He advised Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA) to adopt a resolution for compulsory rotation of postings after every 3 years to work even in the interior areas. He said that Arunachal Pradesh is one of the good performing states in terms of IMR, but still lot of works to be done to achieve MDG by 2015. He assured that the Government is ready and duty bound to consider proposals to reduce IMR.

Secretary (H & FW) Indra Mallo Jain while participating in the discussion informed that equitable distribution of human resources is being addressed by the Government by fixing and sanctioning fixed number of post on the basis of existing health facilities in any district. She motivated the participants to work with dedication within the limited resources and constraints for the welfare of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Earlier, the discussion started with PowerPoint presentation on the causes of high IMR and its possible interventions at various levels by Dr. T Taloh, Jt. DHS (FW). He requested all the  specialists to participate in the discussion whole- heartedly so that recommendations are placed to the Govt. for consideration.

Dr. D Padung, Nodal Officer (NRHM) presented status of overall Infant mortality of three hospitals, segregated data on the recorded causes of mortality at prenatal, neonatal and post neonatal period and compared it with national and international data. He stressed on the importance of maternal care and family planning strategies for reducing infant mortality. The infant mortality is also determined by other social determinants of health, he informed.

He also presented the ongoing Maternal and Child Health Programs under NRHM and various ways to strengthen the same to reduce the IMR.

All the participants from the districts and other hospitals actively took part in the discussion and suggested interventions for reduction of IMR.

Present on the occasion were PN Thungon, Mission Director (NRHM), Director of Health Services Dr. K Nishing.

 

 

Villagers oppose Upper Siang-II hydro project

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Around 4000 people including students, Panchayat leaders, gaon burahs of Riga village,  East Siang district under the banner of  Riga Asi-Among Committee (RAAC) today staged a protest march towards Ugeeng in order to register their protest against the proposed Upper Siang stage II hydro project and its survey works.

 “...We the RAAC and  general public of  Riga strongly object this Hydro-Project and therefore, stop the survey work immediately,”  said  president Tamat Tatak. RAAC secretary Tarik Tatin also asked the surveyors to evacuate the place with all belongings and to inform their higher authorities that the continuation of survey work for the project shall attract ‘perilous consequences and the committee shall take it as an act of trespassing and the person/team as intruder.’

Further, the villagers determined to protest such abominable scheme saying that Dam project proposed and planned in ambiguity is a matter of condemnation.

“State Government should have at least come for our consent. Govt didn’t maintain transparency while taking upfront money from the dam developers.  We can’t compromise and we shall always keep this spirit to protest dam on Siang, the elite and the student bodies said  adding “we shall protect our land, we denounce dam projects no matter what.”  In such an atmosphere the Govt’s policy to build more than two hundred dams seems to remain a daydream and the scheme a castle in the air without a viable reality. The committee also warned that without the consent of apex bodies of Riga Asi-Among Committee and the Riga general mass entering Riga with an abysmal project of dam shall result into tough consequences, according to information received from K Pazing of Boleng.

 

 

2 days coordination meeting of education officers concludes

PASIGHAT, Aug 26: Moving towards sustainable development in education we must be punctual, disciplined, dedicated and devoted. Time is short, and we are called upon to act without delay, said Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava while addressing the academicians in a two days coordination meeting held recently at the DC’s conference hall, Pasighat.

In her message Srivastava said teachers are responsible for shaping futures of millions of youths and therefore, besides imparting bookish knowledge they must demonstrate fair and moral actions and language in classrooms. They should also ensure that the entire students are attending their schools regularly. She informed that medical checkup will be conducted in schools time to time with the help of medical department. The DC directed the school authorities to implement RTE properly in their respective schools and to bring results/performance reports of the students in every coordination meeting.

The Chief Manager, SBI Alok Das who was also present in the meeting advised school authorities to entrust one teacher from every school to take responsibilities to open zero balance bank account for their students for direct account transfer. The bank will handover required ‘account opening forms’ to the particular teacher (s) who will fill up, verify and submit the forms to the bank. It will be easier and time saver for both bank personnel as well as the students, he hoped.

Earlier, the DDSE Tani Talom instructed the headmasters and principals to MPR, QPR and APR of each school/Block/Cluster without fail. While talking about Mid-Day-Meal (MDM) Talom informed Fair Quality Rice have been delivered to all the schools where motorable road communications are available. Hot-cooked meal should be served and before serving to the students coordinator(s) of MDM should personally check/taste before distributing to the children and for Kitchen sheds locally available resources could be used.  CCE should be strictly implemented in schools and text books should be recycling for three years, he added.

 The DAEO J Yirang spoke on Saksaar Bharat Mission, stared as pilot project in East Siang District in 2010. The District Project Coordinators of RMSA T Jamoh explained the main objectives of RMSA activities. The District Coordinator of SSA Kalom Ering highlighted the major issues and problems of SSA/RTE activities in the district.

Gender Coordinators, UDISE/DISE coordinators, IE also spoke on the occasion.

AAPSU leads protest against Chinese incursion

TEZU/HAWAI, Aug 26: Thousands of students and locals participated in rallies organised jointly by the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) and the All Mishmi Students’ Union (AMSU) at Lohit HQ Tezu and Anjaw HQ Hawai today to protest the August 11 incursion by Chinese army at Chaglagam area of Anjaw district.

The protestors, including AMSU president Sohalo Ngadong and general secretary Ayingso Kri, were led by AAPSU president Kamta Lapung in Hawai, while AAPSU finance secretary Suraj Tayam led the people in Tezu, carrying banners reading ‘Go back, Chinese army’ while condemning the perceived apathy of the state and central governments towards the incident, and demanding a proper mechanism to avert further Chinese adventurism along the border.

Strongly criticizing the GoAP and the GoI, the rallyists also questioned Union MoS for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering’s silence over the incursion, saying the minister should have been one of the first to speak out against it.  

“Arunachalees are Indians and we will not give an inch of our land to China. Given the seriousness of the incident, the silence of our government is perplexing, and we need an  explanation,” Tayam said.

The rallyists submitted copies of a memorandum to the DCs of both districts for onward submission to the governor and the union defence minister.

“If there is no response from the GoAP and the GoI, the AAPSU will resort to staging statewide dharnas and protests,” Tayam said.

Lack of road connectivity and communication bottlenecks on the Indian side, along with absence of army bases along strategic points like Chaglagam are the flaws in the Indian military’s policy that the Chinese are exploiting, the memorandum said. The patrolling units of the Indian Army are outnumbered by their Chinese counterparts on the other side of the line of control; on the other hand, the Chinese have laid routes for horses on their side while the Indian side lacks even proper porter tracks, it added.

Seeing India’s strength in other borders, it appears that it is not the Army’s incapability but systematic negligence towards our border that enables the Chinese side to engage in incursions, it said, and urged the country’s policymakers to take corrective steps to guard the borders with China.

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The students’ contingents of ‘P’ Sector Middle School, Itanagar, which were adjudged the Best March-Past team and Best Cultural Troupes on the Independence Day celebration at Indira Gandhi Park here on August 15, have been felicitated in an impressive function in the school hall here today.

Attending the function, Papum Pare DDSE TT Tara advised the students to maintain utmost discipline, respect teachers, parents and study hard to achieve the desired goal in life.

“Work hard and success will follow,” the DDSE said, and asked the students to live up to their parents’ and society’s expectation by excelling in their academics.

Stressing the need of character building by the students, the DDSE asked them to inculcate in them good habits and manner.

While appreciating the school authority for the achievement, especially Scout Master Kakio Siga, who trained the march-past team, stressed taking part in on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for overall development of a student.

Meanwhile, the DDSE suggested the headmaster to prepare a rough cost estimate for renovation of school buildings and submit the same for onward submission.

Earlier, the DDSE distributed certificates issued by the DC to students.

In his address, Gora Lotak, Councilor (Ward No. 1) encouraged the students to keep up the same spirit and bring laurel to the state by participating and winning medals/trophies at regional and national level competitions/celebrations.

Echoing the previous speaker, he advised the students to give top priority to their study and avoid bad habits and bad company. He announced as a token of encouragement cash prizes for students, who studied in the school up to Class VII (since it is a middle school) and score above 80-90 percent marks in Class X and XII examinations.

The newly elected councilor has assured the school authority and students to take up renovation works and all round development of the school on priority basis.

The programme was anchored by headmaster Toku Raja.

Besides the teaching staff and students of the school the programme was also attended by parents and guardians.

 

 

Mebo CHC sans required doctors and modern facilities

PASIGHAT, Aug 26: At a time when the health department is striving to improve the health care system in the state, the present status of Mebo Community Health Centre (CHC) in East Siang district tells a different story.

During a recent visit to the hospital, this correspondent noticed the barren male and female wards in the hospital. The hospital has neither X-ray machine nor ultra sound facilities and other required equipments. To the utter surprise, the CHC is functioning without Gynecology & Obst, ENT, Eye specialists and any surgeon. It is reported that sometimes patients’ attendants have to help nurses in child delivery cases.

On being enquired, one of the doctors disclosed that no modern medical facilities are available in the hospital. The X-ray room is ready but the authority has not yet allotted the machine and other equipments. The room is being used as garage by the staff.

The doctors in the CHC covers about 8,000 population including Ayeng, Mebo, Mottum, Bodak, Siluk villages and other parts of Mebo Sub-division.

The hospital has six doctors, five nurses and few numbers of paramedical staffs. According to doctors, an average 40 patients are treated everyday in the hospital. Lack of X-ray, USG and other diagnostic facilities has been forcing the poor villagers to visit either Pasighat or other places for better medical treatment.

The locals alleged that the authority is willfully neglecting the issue and thereby depriving the local people from having the modern health care facilities.

The people have raised question over the responsibility of their local MLA in the development of the local hospitals and to ensure modern health care facilities for the rural people.

 

 

Classical music show to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Swamiji

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: A two-day Indian classical music programme was organized at Ramakrishna Mission School, Narottam Nagar yesterday as a part Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebration.

Inaugurating the programme, Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Setong Sena threw light on the rich legacies of Indian classical music and said that music knew no language barriers.

Highlighting about the immense contribution of Swami Vivekananda in awakening the Indians from their slough of despondency, the Minister said that Swami Vivekananda inspired millions of people all the world over adding that no one had remained untouched by Swamiji’s inspiring words of wisdom.  

Sena further said that he was greatly inspired by Swami Vivekananda in many ways and asked the students to study the books on Swamiji seriously.

Participating in the deliberation, Parliamentary Secretary and local MLA Wangki Lowang while lauding the RKM management for organizing the musical programme, said that more people should get the opportunity to enjoy the performances of the world famous musicians.

He said that Swami Vivekananda did not live long but within a short period he virtually shook the whole world with his ocean of knowledge and changed the course of Indian history. Lowang said that the establishment of Ramakrishna Mission Schools all over the world including in the non-descript Narottam Nagar is the outcome of Swami Vivekananda’s monumental effort.  

Speaking as special invitee, Denhang Bosai, a past student of the institution, spoke on Swami Vivekananda and today’s India. He told the budding students that the onerous onus of making India strong and vibrant was on them and urged them to draw inspiration from Swamiji while carrying out their task.

Earlier, in his welcome address the Secretary Swamiji of the institution elaborately and eloquently spoke on Swami Vivekananda and thanked the Minister, local MLA and the world renowned musicians for gracing the programme. He also underscored the significance observing the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Earlier, the minister and other guests lit lamps at the portrait of Swami Vivekananda amidst vedic chanting by the students.

On the first evening of the Indian Classical Music programme, Jugalbandi [Sitar and Sarod] by Lakshay Mohan Gupta and Aayush Mohan Gupta with Abhijit Banerjee on tabla, Percussion Ensemble by Abhijeet Banerjee-Tabla, Somnath Roy-Ghatam, Apurbalal Manna-Pakhawaj and Ranjan De-Bangla Dhol mesmerized the huge gathering of music aficionados.

Former Minister Wangpha Lowang, SDO, EAC PCCF and others attended the function.  

On the previous days on August 23 and 24, Ramesh Tawadkar, Minister for Sports and Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa accompanied by Talem Tapok, MD, GSSTFDCFL visited RK Mission School, Narottam Nagar and RKSarada Mission School, Khonsa.

The Minister interacted with the School authorities on wide range of topics. It is worth-mentioning here that Tapok had earlier served as DC, Tirap.

 

 

AAPWU’s East and West Siang tour concludes

PASIGHAT, Aug. 26: The whirlwind tour of East and West Siang districts by the team of All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAPWU) led by its working president Changma Tajo and secretary general Techi Tara concluded yesterday at Pasighat, the district headquarter of East Siang.

At Pasighat, more than 600 workers from different blocks, including Nari-Koyu, Boleng, Pangin, Ruksin and Mebo participated in the meeting cum awareness camp jointly conducted by APBOCWWBthe Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and AAPWU.

Jalley Sonam, Chairman APB&OCWWB cum President AAPWU addressing hundreds of workers said, in today’s day no bank or person is willing to extend helping hand by granting loans to poor laborers at the time of their needs. But your needs and problems can almost be solved with the help of APB&OCWW Board. Now any laborer/worker can fulfill their dreams of having their own house with housing loan being granted to laborers and construction workers of the state. With the benefits like medical assistance, tools advance, maternity assistance, housing loans etc., one can now accomplish ones dreams, he said.

Educational Assistance for higher studies in Technical/Professional, Old age pension above 60 years, Scholarship to children of registered workers are few benefits being provided by the Board.

Sonam informed that benefits under the Board have been doubled by the chief minister Nabam Tuki. Now nominee of registered worker will receive Rs one lakh instead of Rs 50,000 under accidental death benefit.

Changma Tajo advised the workers to cooperate with the state government by contributing maximum output towards the developmental activities and requested all the workers to register with the Board to avail maximum benefits being provided by the Board and informed about the procedures for registration.

Techi Tara, Secy. General while thanking  chief minister Nabam Tuki led government for fulfilling long-pending genuine demands of AAPWU informed that government has approved three months maternity leave for female casual workers, enhanced the salary of casual workers. He further informed that chief minister has promised that 2010-11 adhoc bonus of casual workers will be released within current financial year and also assured that 40% seats in group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts will be reserved under promotional quota.

CRPF contributes medical equipments under civic action prog

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The 138 Bn of Central Reserve Police Force provided medical equipments worth Rs. One lakh to Govt. Hospital, Koloriang, Kurung Kumey under Civic Action Programme for delivering better health services to needy patients of the remote district.

One ECG machine, auto clave, wheel chairs, nebulizer, first aid box, hot water bottles, male rib-belt, curvical coller, stethoscope, BP apparatus mercury, digital thermometer and infra-red lamp worth Rs 1 lakh were provided in presence of Deputy Commissioner Gejum Ete, Deputy SP G. Dajangju, DMO Dr. Hingoi Tama and other hospital staff and civilians.  

In another programme at Palin Inspection Bungalow, the 138 Bn of CRPF distributed solar lamp worth Rs. 50,000 to poor and needy peoples in the presence of Palin ADC S Lowong ZPM Rido Mina, Gaon Burahs, officers, public and students.

Ram Krishan, Commandant 138 Bn, CRPF, while addressing the huge gathering, said that more such programmes will be organized in days to come to maintain a health relationship with public in their areas of operations. He further assured to work for peace, property and progress of the people of the district.

 

 

APDA submits memo to CM on functional-DME appointment

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Arunachal Pradesh Doctors’ Association (APDA), in a memorandum, has appealed to the Chief Minister to appoint the senior most officer of the Specialist Sub-Cadre as the functional Director Medical Education (DME) at his own grade and scale of pay with no financial benefit.

The next two senior most officers under Specialist Sub-Cadre can be appointed as Chief Medical Superintendent and Functional Joint Director Medical Education respectively at their own grade and scale of pay with no financial benefit.  However, if the senior most officer of the Specialist Sub-Cadre declines to accept the post of Functional-Director Medical Education the next senior most officer of same sub-cadre should be given the chance to hold the said post of Functional-DME, the memorandum said.

Appointment of Functional-DME and Functional-Joint DME will not only open up long congested channel of promotion for Senior Officers of Specialist Sub-Cadre but also will give ownership and responsibility of streamlining the newly cabinet approved posts before final Sanction Post is finally created and notified.

The copies of the memorandum were also submitted to the Health Minister and Parliamentary Secretary (Health).

 

 

Tibet Support Group hold rally at Jantar Mantar

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: National Core Group for Tibetan Cause organized a rally, namely ‘Asian Rally’ to express solidarity with the Tibetans at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi where Tibet support groups from various Asian countries participated.

Tibet Support Group, Arunachal Pradesh president Tacho Kabak participating in the rally highlighted about relationship between Tibet and Arunachal Pradesh since time immemorial. He said that the age-old border trade between the two countries came to a complete halt after Chinese occupied Tibet.

He strongly appealed to the Chinese Govt. to stop human violation in Tibet.

“Media and human right activists should be allowed to visit Tibet to highlights the sufferings of the Tibetans,” he said adding that there should be cultural and religious freedom too in Tibet.

He also appealed China to re-start the dialogue with representatives of Dalai Lama and Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala to end the Tibet issue by granting genuine autonomous region within the PRC enabling Dalai Lama to return to Tibet with his people.

Kabak also assured brothers and sisters of Tibetan that Tibet Support Group of Arunachal Pradesh will always stand behind for their cause till their demand is met.

Former Minister and Secretary General Tibet Support Group Anok Wangsa and Secretary Nima Sange also attended the rally.

Climate change to trigger frequent heat waves

Climate change is set to trigger more frequent and severe heat waves in the next 30 years regardless of the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted into the atmosphere, a new study has warned.  Extreme heat waves such as those that hit the US in 2012 and Australia in 2009 are projected to cover double the amount of global land by 2020 and quadruple by 2040, researchers said.

Meanwhile, more-severe summer heat waves will go from being essentially absent in the present day to covering around 3 per cent of the global land surface by 2040, they said.

The study found that in the first half of the 21st century, these projections will occur regardless of the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. After then, the rise in frequency of extreme heat waves becomes dependent on the emission scenario adopted.

Under a low-emission scenario, the number of extremes will stabilize by 2040, whereas under a high emission scenario, the land area affected by extremes will increase by 1 per cent a year after 2040, researchers said.

Under a high-emission scenario, the projections show that by 2100, 3-sigma heat waves will cover 85% of the global land area and fivesigma heat waves will cover around 60 per cent of global land.

The lecture delivered by journalist Taba Ajum at PTS Wazirabad, Delhi on issues concerning North East State's citizen's in Delhi/NCR and the Role of Delhi police on ensuring their safety is commendable. Taba Ajum, a journalist of far excellence, has highlighted the problems faced by North East citizens at Delhi/NCR. He also apprised the new recruits of Delhi police about the nature, temperament, and predicaments, emotion etc. of NE people to Delhi police in order then to deal more humanely with them. Through this forum I also advise young students of NE & Arunachal in particulars to abide by the rules and regulations and to have respect for others with regard to religion, belief, food habits, language etc. and to live in peaceful existence. They are in Delhi for a goal and it should be realized successfully without any incidents or accidents. Further, I also appreciate senior IPS Officers of the state Robin Hibu, Jt. Commissioner of Police and Apur Bitin, Vice Principal of Wazirabad PTS .These officers are role models for our North East Youths in general and Arunachalee in particular. I exhort them to continue to guide our young students in future and also request them to play the role of guardian of all Arunachalee Students of Delhi/NCR as well. Last but not the least, I would request them that in near future senior APCS officers serving at Delhi may also be invited to share their experiences and suggestions on such important occasions.

The allegation leveled against our dynamic and visionary local leader of 58th Kanubari Assembly Constituency is totally false and baseless. The complainants are not active INC Party worker. They are anti Congress workers who had indulged themselves in anti party activities in the recently concluded Panchayat Election in our area and they are trying to create chaos amongst common masses as well as. They are also trying to tarnish the hard earn name and fame of INC Party and image of our Local MLA. Such, act deserves condemnation from all section of our Society.

Thanks to Capital Complex Administration for timely action

Dear Editor,

Last Sunday I passed through Naharlagun while going to Itanagar and I was very happy to see the changed scenario. The Sunday market which started some years back in Naharlagun was really a mess due to the congestion and noise pollution it creates.

Thanks to Capital Complex DC Sanjay Goel, ADM T Potom and their team for the timely action by closing down Sunday market. The market does not really benefit the common man and disturbs the peaceful environment.

I would also request our DC capital Complex and his team to take action against those shops and business establishments, except legally permitted ones, who opens their shops on Sunday against the law. If I am not mistaken, labour law in our Country and State requires one day's rest in a week and Sunday is the day fixed for this purpose. Heavy fine on a shop or two with publicity in the press will be sufficient to stop these law breakers. We are also thankful to our elected representatives- MLAs, Councilors etc for not interfering in the goods works done by civil servants. Let us all support the good works done by them for our better future.
